Great Bridgewater Office Developments, Manchester

The construction of the Great Bridgewater offices has produced 1890 sq m of commercial office space within two separate buildings. The buildings were developed around a newly formed piazza and canal basin to create a complementary environment and integrated letting. The external envelope of the buildings consisted of polished granite and gloss cladding placed around an insitu cast concrete frame. Internally full-height atria were provided, which were integrated to the double height entrance foyers.

The project involved a review of the designer's proposals, for compliance with the requirements of the finance agreement. Watts also provided advice on good design practice and reported on matters relating to the conduct and construction of the building works. We also operated a day-to-day surveillance role.

Construction of the development required the reclamation and reconstruction of a former canal basin. This currently provides a water feature in conjunction with the adjacent Bridgewater Concert Hall.
